Switchgear

One of the activities of BRUSH Aftermarket in the Netherlands is the manufacture of DC switchgear. These can be supplied to customers as individual components as well as part of complete traction systems.

With over 30 years of experience, the BRUSH Aftermarket DC Switchgear group is concentrating on the development of switchgear for traction (rolling stock, trackside and substations) and crane applications.

Each type of switchgear has its own standard range. However, the design of the products can be adapted to meet specific customer requirements or can be designed for special applications.

Contactors

BRUSH contactors find their application in many areas e.g. traction- and crane systems. They are suitable for currents up to 1000 A at voltages up to 1650 Vdc and operate either electromagnetically or electro-pneumatically.

Line breakers

The line breaker is a combination of a line contactor and a circuit breaker in one compact unit. BRUSH line breakers are designed for switching an installation on and off and also for interrupting the current detected by it’s over current protection. The line breaker range consists of different types for currents up to 2000 A and voltages up to 1800 V for use on trams, metro’s, commuter trains and locomotives.

Special switches

The group special switches consist of the types RTS and RBS by which the connection is made with silver roller contacts. Because of the modular design many different configurations are possible, with currents up to 20,000 A.  Some of the applications are: on/off (with or without interrupting possibility), reverser (changeover) disconnect or isolator switch.

Master controllers

Master controllers are used for...

• Regulating the speed in railway vehicles

• Control the main movements of cranes

The master controllers are not a standard product as such, but are designed and manufactured according customer’s specific requirements.
