Aftermarket Electrical Design Engineer

Working within the Aftermarket Department, the role holder will assure an excellent customer experience; promoting all aspects of the BRUSH offering; acting as a champion and ambassador with external and internal contacts; and supporting the continued implementation and development of the BRUSH Aftermarket experience by:
- Providing detailed guidance and supporting documentation on the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment
- Ensuring that all designs and applied technology used within Aftermarket adhere to, and are compliant with, current BRUSH specifications and legal requirements, and with the relevant technical, safety and environmental standards, codes of practice etc
- Working with Mechanical engineers and other team members to design and develop programmes for component upgrades/modifications, new product development and support Aftermarket growth initiatives
- Utilising lean principles and methodology to reduce waste and increase outputs
- Providing regular data to support KPI and visual management measurements e.g.
- Engineering hit rate for the processing of tenders & inquiries
- Engineering feed into drawing office
- Delivery of customer drawings
- Delivery of manufacturing drawings
- Processing of ECR’s
- Delivery of O & M manuals
- Provision of NCR dispositions for BEM/SEM
- Frequency and close out of NCR’s raised against Eng/DO
- Response to Aftermarket enquiries
- Delivery of recommended spares lists
- Ensuring that all new product introductions are designed for manufacture and servicing in the most cost effective and timely manner
- Preparing and maintaining recommended spares lists
- Providing technical support and advice to the Field Service Engineering Team and Customer Services Executives
- Managing and providing solutions for design change requests resulting from problems identified with existing products
- Liaising as required with BRUSH Group companies and suppliers
- Supporting Aftermarket purchasing in assuring the suitability and quality of new, and existing, suppliers products
- Assisting the Engineering Manager in the review and implementation of reverse engineering capabilities and solutions
- Being flexible in working times as dictated by planned and non planned events

Qualifications or Functional Experience
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience in the use of Auto Cad
System or Knowledge
- Computer literate with the ability to maintain accurate records
- Fully conversant of use in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) and internet/intranet applications is essential
- Working knowledge of ME10 design software
- Experience of 3PL ERP/MRP is desirable
Personal Attributes
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, methodologies, procedures etc. utilised within the design and manufacture of Turbogenerators and associated products
- Significant experience in an engineering environment
- In depth understanding of design and operating criteria for Power Management Systems, digital Excitation Control Systems, AVR’s and all electrical systems utilised in the manufacture and service of Turbogenerators
- Hands on experience in implementing Lean techniques and methodologies
- Clear and effective communicator, both verbal and written; adept at disseminating information to others; keeping colleagues at all levels of the organisation informed of important issues, problems, and status of projects in a timely manner
- Skills in the following areas:
- Design reviews
- Design methodologies
- Project management
- RCA investigations
- Lean techniques and methodologies
- Cost reduction by VA/VE
- Proven track record in developing and maintaining highly effective working relationships cross culturally and across all nationalities
- Language skills (Second European language would be an advantage)
